LYNNFIELD – A weekend fire at 3 Norris Road left a family temporarily homeless, according to Lynnfield Fire Chief Tom Bogart.Bogart declined to estimate the dollar amount for how much damage was done to the single-family home.?I can?t really say how much damage was done in a dollar sense,” said Bogart. “It was serious enough where the family can?t go back to their house for a few weeks.”Bogart and Assistant Chief John Walsh, along with Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Ladder Tower 1 and Rescue 1, responded to the fire at 11:06 p.m. Saturday.?The firefighters on the scene did a great job handling the fire,” said Bogart. This is the second fire in Lynnfield in a few weeks, something Bogart believes is “completely coincidental.” Both fires were electrical. However, he does believe the fact that both homes had smoke detectors prevented more damage.?Working smoking detectors are so important,” said Bogart. “With these past two fires the alert from the smoke detectors led to less damage.”The family of four occupying the house escaped safely with no injuries, but Bogart believes things could have turned out differently. “I cannot emphasize the importance of working home smoke detectors enough. If it were not for the early warning the smoke detector gave, the outcome of this fire could have been disastrous,” he said in a press release.
