LYNN – A man was rescued from the waters of Lynn Harbor Thursday evening after he became stranded while riding his jet ski in the middle of a thunderstorm.Lynn Deputy Fire Chief Jim McDonald said the Engine 3 fire crew went out on the department?s Zodiak and rescued the man from the turbulent waters.A sighting of a jet ski in the water was first reported at approximately 5:30 p.m. Witnesses soon after reported hearing a man screaming for help in the water.?I asked him how he was the only person that didn?t know what the weather report was,” McDonald quipped. “He was about 250 to 300 yards out in the water behind Walmart.”The water temperature was about 55 degrees, according to McDonald, who said the man had tried to swim toward shore, but wasn?t able to.The jet skier, whose name was not released, was taken by ambulance to Union Hospital for an evaluation.
