LYNN – An alleged heroin addict and an acquaintance from rehab together robbed a man at knife-point at a Boston Street ATM, and then carjacked another on Locust Street Monday night. The suspects, Mariel Delgado, 24, of 5 Pennybrook Gardens #4, Saugus and Ferdinand R. Parziale, 29, of 12 Hayes St., Lynn, were arrested following the alleged crime spree, which involved a police chase and a car accident. Both were charged with armed robbery, carjacking and attempt to commit a crime. Delgado was also charged with failure to stop for police and leaving the scene of property damage over $250.Both suspects were arraigned Tuesday at Lynn District Court by Judge James Lamothe and ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for June 21.According to court documents, police responded to a robbery on Boston Street, where they were met by Agapito Lopez, who frantically pointed in the direction that Delgado and Parziale allegedly fled.In an interview with the Item, Lopez recalled his terrorizing experience, where the Guatemalan native said he took $60 out of the Bank of America ATM and was then approached by Delgado and Parziale.”They were waiting for me,” Lopez said. “He said, ‘Give me the money. Give me the money’ and held a knife to my throat. He said if I moved, he would kill me. I’ve never had that happen in my life.”Lopez said he handed over the money and his bank card.”I said, ‘Please don’t kill me. What is wrong with you?'” he said. “They tried to take my car, but they ran into the cemetery (Pine Grove), so I followed them and called the police.”Once Delgado and Parziale made it through the cemetery, with Lopez following closely behind, the two had allegedly devised a plan to carjack someone. Delgado then waved down an oncoming Ford Explorer on Locust Street and, when the victim stopped his car, Parziale allegedly approached the drivers side and pulled the victim out by his shirt.According to police, Delgado then allegedly jumped inside the driver’s seat and began to drive away as the victim clung to the steering wheel, eventually letting go and falling to the ground. Police found Parziale running in the Brookside Mall parking lot, completely out of breath and sweating profusely. In the meantime an officer, in response to Lopez’ 911 call, caught up with Delgado, who allegedly refused to stop and accelerated once the cruiser’s emergency lights were flashed. During the chase, Delgado lost control of the SUV and hit another car on Linwood Street, pushing it up on the sidewalk. She then careened across the street, struck a pole and ended up in the front yard of a home.Once out of the SUV and handcuffed, Delgado allegedly admitted that she is a heroin addict with a $300-a-day habit. She said she has been trying to get into a detox program, but on Monday, she decided that she didn’t want to get “dope sick” so she contacted Parziale, whom she met at CAB Health and Recovery Services in Lynn.Delgado said she contemplated prostituting herself for money, but Parziale allegedly devised the plan to rob someone instead.
