Former Lynn ice rink manager indicted

SALEM – A Lynn ice rink manager who police say had child pornography on his home computer containing “young prepubescent boys” was indicted Wednesday afternoon by an Essex County grand jury.Jared Surette, 26, of 9 Stanwood St., Lynn, who was managing the Connery Skating Rink at the time of the offenses, is facing 10 counts of child pornography as well as a single count of dissemination of material of a child in an act of sexual conduct. The indictments follow an investigation by authorities that began March 29 when investigators identified him as sharing child pornography while browsing a Limewire site.Police reportedly found 87 videos of children either in a state of nudity or in a state of sexual conduct when they seized his computer after searching his home on May 6 where he lives with his parents. He apparently told police he typed in search terms on the Limewire program that returned child pornography containing young prepubescent boys, which were his preference, according to reports.Surette no longer works at the skating rink since the charges came down.He currently is free on $1,000 cash bail following his arraignment in Lynn District Court last month with conditions he not have any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18 and is not allowed to use a computer or Internet, either at home or elsewhere, while his case is pending.Assistant District Attorney Jean M. Curran is prosecuting the case for the state.Indictments are not an indication of guilt, rather it is a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court allowing for a more severe punishment.
