Alleged DUI accident ties up local traffic 3 hours

REVERE – Police say a Revere man rolled his vehicle on Revere Beach Parkway Sunday afternoon, resulting in a traffic jam that lasted nearly three hours.State Police say Joseph Pinto, 69, will be summonsed into Chelsea District Court on charges of marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.At approximately 1:55 p.m., Pinto was allegedly traveling on the roadway, where he slammed into a curb, went over a center median and crossed three lanes of traffic before hitting the bridge located at the intersection of Routes 16 and 145 and rolled over. Police say he wasn?t traveling at a high rate of speed in his 2000 Lexus.Pinto was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. An account of his injuries was not available.Traffic returned to normal around 4:30 p.m. No further details were released as of press time Sunday.
