LYNN – Police say a Lynn man was brutally beaten and left in a puddle of his own blood during an alleged robbery on the Commons Saturday night.The suspects, Tabbatha Gauthier, 31, and James S. Pearson, 28, both of 126 Union St., #33, Lynn, were charged with unarmed robbery. Gauthier was also charged with receiving a stolen credit card, and Pearson was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, shod foot.Both suspects were arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court, where Pearson was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail and Gauthier on $5,000 cash bail. They are due back in court on July 14.According to court documents, officers responded to a report of a man that had been beaten in the area of City Hall Square around 10:30 p.m. Police found the 50-year-old victim face down on the sidewalk in front of the Lynn Public Library, in a large pool of blood oozing from wounds to his head.According to the police report, a large crowd had gathered around the victim as medical crews tended to him. Several witnesses described the incident and relayed a description of the suspects. A few minutes later, officers spotted a man and a woman, later identified as Gauthier and Pearson, walking near City Hall. Pearson?s face was allegedly covered in blood from facial injuries and his sneakers had blood on them as well.Suspected in the robbery, police took both Pearson and Gauthier to the scene of the alleged crime, where witnesses identified the pair as having been involved.Witnesses told police that they saw Pearson allegedly stomping on the victims head before he reached down and grabbed the man?s wallet. Both were arrested at the scene, with Pearson taken to Union Hospital for treatment for his wounds.During Gauthier?s booking, police found a Citizens Bank ATM card and a Visa gift card in her pants pocket with the victim?s name on both. Pearson claimed he was jumped by a group of youths instead of having allegedly attacked the victim and told police that he didn?t remember anything else from the night.A short time later, Gauthier allegedly admitted to an officer that Pearson had attacked the victim, but said he was beat up a few minutes later by a group that witnessed the robbery. The victims wallet was later found by police in City Hall Square.
