SALEM – A man who is facing a mandatory 15-year prison term, after being caught peddling OxyCodone in Lynn with an estimated street value of about $60,000, is held on $75,000 cash bail.Roger Jones, 23, of 180 Second St., Manchester, N.H., appeared for his arraignment Wednesday in Salem Superior Court, pleading innocent to a charge of trafficking over 200 grams of opium, a crime that carries a minimum mandatory punishment of 15 years in state prison.Judge Robert A. Cornetta agreed to set the high bail amount at the joint request of the prosecutor and defense with the agreed option for the defense to seek a bail review at another court hearing. In the meantime, Jones remains held at the Middleton Jail in lieu of bail.Last January a postal inspector identified a suspicious package from Florida addressed to an individual in Lynn and contacted authorities.A cotton candy machine was inside the package and in it authorities claimed it contained approximately 2,000 OxyCodone pills, each 30 milligrams, with a street value of about $60,000.On Jan. 21, the package was delivered to the address of a woman who police learned was reportedly coaxed into accepting the package for Chrystalina Cruz, 22, of Salem. After the package was delivered, the woman agreed to contact Cruz after being told by authorities of its contents.Cruz along with Jones arrived at the woman’s home to retrieve the item and as they were accepting the package in hand, police moved in and arrested the couple.Cruz pleaded to her role earlier and is currently free on $10,000 cash bail with house arrest. They are due back in court on July 19 for a pretrial hearing in the case.
