Marblehead seeks to fill FinCom, historical board seats

MARBLEHEAD – Selectmen have some seats to fill on a number of town boards this year.The board is now accepting letters of interest from applicants. Letters may be sent to the Board of Selectmen, Abbot Hall, 188 Washington St., Marblehead MA 01945.At the top of the list is the Finance Committee, which presents recommendations to Town Meeting on the town budget and all financial matters.After interviewing W. Paul Pruett and Benjamin S. Berman earlier this month, the selectmen filled two FinCom vacancies by naming Pruett to the committee until 2014 and Berman until 2012.Selectmen were then informed that Steven Haskell is not seeking re-appointment to the FinCom. There are already two letters of interest from Rolf Lofmark and Philip Mancusco Jr. Others may apply up until noon on Wednesday, July 13.The Historical Commission has a two-year vacancy and Mike Weed has sent a letter of interest. Selectmen are accepting letters until noon on Friday and will interview applicants July 13.The Marblehead Forever Committee has been functioning for at least two years with only one member, Fraffie Welch, on a five-member committee. Selectmen have received a letter of interest from Linda W. Doliber. Others may apply by July 13.Other vacancies include an at-large seat on the Affordable Housing Committee, a three-year seat and two-year seat on the Cable TV Oversight Committee, a three-year seat on the Disabilities Commission, a one-year term as sign-culler, a one-year seat on the Taxation Aid Committee and alternate seats on the Harbor and Waters Board, Old and Historic Districts Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.
