SAUGUS – The Saugus Board of Selectmen finally settled an outstanding hearing for a modification of a Special Permit for Steven Realty Trust at 63 Salem Turnpike.Steven Realty, the property owner, was seeking to modify the permit to allow 75 trucks and 75 containers in order to lease the site to Revere-based disposal company EZ Disposal. The Board voted 5-0 to allow 50 trucks (14 more than the original permit) and 50 containers to be stored at the property with some conditions.”I’m not comfortable with 75 trucks,” said Selectman Michael Serino. “I think we should go with 50. I couldn’t support anything more than that.”Serino added some conditions and the selectmen and attorney Richard Magnan agreed that the trucks could only use Route 107, operating hours would be Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the containers must be washed daily and would not be stacked.Town Manager Andrew Bisignani gave a progress update on the construction project on Hamilton Street. Bisignani said the paving crews should be wrapping up in two weeks and that the project should come in under budget. The Board of Selectmen also congratulated Belmonte Middle School students George Falardeau and Lauren Webster for coming up with a logo for the town’s new recycling truck. Each student was awarded a $50 gift certificate to the Square One Mall and a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
