LYNN – The 17th annual Agganis All-Star Baseball Classic proved to be another dramatic contest between some of the area’s top recently graduated talent.After trailing for most of the seven innings, the North all-stars took advantage of a South error to score four unearned runs against Peabody’s Ramses Vittini in the top of the seventh to snare an 8-5 win at Fraser Field on Sunday afternoon.Click here for an Agganis photo gallery.Vittini looked set to perhaps claim the South’s MVP honors after driving in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth and was on the mound to try to save the game for Classical’s Greg Rybak in the seventh.Lynnfield’s Chris Klotzbier led off the inning by reaching on an error. Vittini got Alec Jillson on a grounder to first that moved pinch runner Dillon Gonzalez to second.Fenwick’s Mike Davis, who would be named Game MVP for the North, then lifted a fly to deep left that ticked off the glove of Danvers’ Greg Little, which allowed Gonzalez to score the tying run. Newburyport’s Drew Carter gave his team the lead for good when he doubled to left as well for a 6-5 lead.Rick Berardino followed with a hit and a passed ball brought Carter home for a 7-5 lead. Another passed ball sent Berardino to third and he crossed on Kevin McAdam’s grounder to short.Davis, who was stellar in relief of Hamilton-Wenham’s Cam Charette, got the final three batters in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win.The North broke the ice in the top of the second when Justin Peluso singled, stole second and came home on a two-out hit from Matt Mottola. The South responded quickly against Charette in the bottom of the inning as a single and two walks loaded the bases for Danvers’ Nick Gikas, who was hit by a pitch to force Matt McQuillan home.Derrick Frazier’s fielder’s choice made it 2-1 and Sammy Evers made it 3-1 with a single to right.The North returned the favor in the top of the third as Tim Cashman singled and scored on an error. North Andover’s Mike Weisman later had a 2-run single to make it 4-3 North.The bottom of the fourth would see Central Catholic’s Zach Bardwell single and score the tying run on an error. Vittini’s single would score Paul Yanakopulos later in the inning.
