LYNN – The Department of Conservation of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) on Friday posted warnings against swimming at sections of King’s Beach, Lynn Beach and Nahant Beach after finding high levels of bacteria in water samples, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health website.Water samples taken Thursday prompted posted warnings on a stretch of Kings beach between the Swampscott / Lynn border and the base of Kimball Road in Lynn and all but the middle section of Nahant (or Long) Beach in Nahant. Swimming in areas with elevated bacteria levels may cause sickness, according to the department of public health website.If testing reveals elevated bacteria levels at a site, the state will retest that site the following day. If the test results n available the following day – show that bacteria levels have decreased, the state will reopen the beaches to swimming, a DCR spokesperson told the Item in a previous story.
