MARBLEHEAD – Marblehead residents can enjoy Terry?s Ice Cream again thanks to a new ice cream truck. The restaurant had to close down due to a recent fire that happened two weeks ago.But the shop?s new truck can be seen driving around town throughout most of the day and will be parked in front of Chet?s Video Store on 1 Essex St. from 7-10 p.m. every night. The truck has been seen around town for about three weeks now and has been parked in front Chet?s since the fire.?Chet?s has been very generous,” said Sandra Rocha, the daughter of the shop?s owner Terry Rocha. “They were nice enough to block off some space for us so we can still sell our ice cream.”The response from the community has been great, Rocha said.?Everyone has been awesome,” Rocha said. “They have all been very supportive.”Rocha states that they still do not know when they will reopen the restaurant. “They say it could take from six to nine months,” Rocha said. They plan on selling ice cream from the new truck as long as they can.?Six to nine months will take us into winter,” Rocha said. “Hopefully, we can do this for as long as possible. We will try our best.”The fire occurred on Tuesday, July 12 and caused about $50,000 in damages, according to the Marblehead Fire Department. The fire is believed to have started in the basement and quickly traveled upward. The fire is still under investigation and no cause has been decided on yet, according to town fire officials.Terry also rents out the truck for any private party or function. Terry?s Ice Cream Shop?s phone lines have been disconnected but the public can reach the owners via Rocha?s cell phone.?If anyone is interested, they can just call me,” Rocha said.Sandra Rocha?s number is 978-304-6290.
