Eric Pedro didn’t hit a home run during the regular season, but yesterday in the Lynn City Series, the lefty walloped an important first-inning 2-run blast that boosted the West Lynn American Red Sox to a 9-1 romp over the Wyoma Rangers.Lenny Ryan was also among the many Red Sox heroes as the winning pitcher with 6 strikeouts and one hit allowed.”I was worried about my arm but it felt good and strong,” said Ryan after the game.Ryan has a slightly sore arm and probably is throwing only about 75 percent of his speed, said his coach.Ryan also might be thinking of Wyoma’s standout player, Andrew Moccia, who was diagnosed with “Little League elbow” (sore arm from pitching) the day before and sat out yesterday’s game with a huge cast on his arm, done for the season.Pine Hill’s Ryan came out after 65 pitches, and in came the Papelbon of the team, cool Dave Hunter to get out of a jam with one pitch in the fifth and a 1-2-3 inning in the 6th.Aedon Leydon, who had two hits and three runs scored, was a table-setter for the Sox with a hard single and Riccardo Perez reached on an error. Ryan came up with a sacrifice fly ball with Leydon tagging and scoring. Pedro’s home run made it 3-0.In the second, Jerry Ennis looped a hit, and after a fine defensive play by Wyoma pitcher Travis Ryan for one out, a bases-loaded walk to slugger Len Ryan made it 4-0.Wyoma threatened in the first when Travis Ryan got hit by a pitch and later stole third, but he was stranded there.Leydon finished with two hits, a walk and scored three times.Back-to-back doubles by Nick Paveri and Brendan Powicki produced Wyoma’s lone run in the third. The wheels came off the wagon for Wyoma in the 6th as West Lynn got five runs thanks to hits by Derrick Shaw, Leydon, David Hunter and Lenny Ryan. Cam Vautour also excelled with a solid all-around game, once again.West Lynn plays on Monday, while Lynn Shore tackles East Lynn Friday.
