LYNN – Police say a Lynn man went ballistic on Saturday after he allegedly threatened a man with a broken beer bottle after he couldn’t find a loaded gun that he had stashed in the man’s yard.Rafael Jose DeJesus, 23, of 66 Linden St., #2, was charged with four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, bottle, intimidation of a witness, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a license and carrying a loaded firearm. DeJesus was arraigned Monday at Lynn District Court by Judge Albert Conlon and ordered held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 16.According to court documents, police responded to a report of a car accident on Essex Street around 7 a.m. Saturday morning and were called to return to the same address about an hour later after the suspect who allegedly caused the accident, DeJesus, returned.Upon arrival, officers spoke with DeJesus, who said he came back to arrange to pay for the damage caused in the accident in order to avoid insurance companies from getting involved. The victim involved in the incident told police a different story. He said that DeJesus began arguing with him and allegedly told him in Spanish that he hid a gun on his property. When the victim told DeJesus that he didn’t see a gun, DeJesus allegedly became enraged and threatened to kill him and burn down his house unless he got his gun back.A witness told police that he allegedly saw DeJesus pick up a beer bottle and break it before he held it against the victim’s throat while yelling about the gun. Police say the firearm, a .25 caliber semi-automatic, was later found under a rock in the victim’s yard, loaded with six rounds of ammunition.Police say a check of their records, along with the State Criminal History Board revealed that DeJesus does not have a valid license to carry or an FID card.
