August 2, 2011 by Matt Tempesta

SAUGUS – Joan Walton has shared her front lawn with her 300-pound garden gnome and giant red concrete mushroom for the last 18 years. So it came as a shock to her when she woke up Thursday morning to find both of them missing. So her niece put up a sign, stating, “Bring our gnome home and his pal the mushroom. No questions asked.”To her surprise, the mushroom reappeared Sunday, and then Walton found her gnome sitting at the end of her driveway this morning.?I am very grateful that they brought it back,” said Walton.Read Wednesday’s Daily Item for complete coverage of the story.
