SALEM – A Saugus man who allegedly went on a month-long crime spree robbing banks stretching across eastern Massachusetts has been indicted by an Essex County grand jury.Christopher Decareau, 26, of 382 Central St., Saugus, stands charged with two counts of unarmed robbery and a single count of attempted robbery involving banks in Lynnfield, Saugus and Andover.Decareau is charged with stealing an undetermined amount of money from the Eastern Bank branch at 771 Salem St., in Lynnfield on May 8.He is also charged in connection with the May 15 from the TD Bank on Loring Avenue in Salem and the May 31 Eastern Bank branch robbery at 60 Main St., in Andover.Assistant District Attorney Kim Faitella is assigned to prosecute the case.Indictments are not an indication of guilt: rather it is a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court, allowing for a more severe punishment.
