LYNN – Massachusetts State Police dive teams recovered the body of a black male at Floating Bridge Pond in Lynn around 6 p.m. Tuesday.Lynn Police Lt. Chris Kelly said there is a “distinct possibility” that the body belongs to a missing 23-year-old out of Peabody.?Right now that remains under investigation by the medical examiner?s office and pending notification of next of kin if that is the body,” said Kelly.Kelly said he believes the body may have been in the pond for a couple of days.?That will also be determined by the medical examiner,” said Kelly.Efe Ewansiha was at the scene on Victory Road, and said the body belonged to his cousin who had been missing since Thursday, and that he suffered from “mental issues.”?We don?t know how he got in there,” said Ewansiha, who had missing person signs with him. “He just left the house we don?t know where or why he left or where he went until today when they found him here.”Ewansiha said he moved to Peabody from Nigeria three years ago.?He?s a nice guy,” said Ewansiha. “He loved everybody. He was a Christian. I don?t know why this happened.”Floating Bridge Pond sits at the intersection of Western and Eastern Avenues, and runs along Victory Road. The body was found in the corner of the Pond near the shoreline between Victory Road and the Buchanan Bridge.Police pulled the body from the water at around 7:15 p.m. and the Medical Examiner arrived at the scene at around 8:15 p.m.Frank Barrett lives on Victory Road, and said people usually fish off of the bridge, which spans the pond, but he said people “never” swim there.?I doubt that he was swimming,” said Barrett. “It?s so congested with weeds and algae, you wouldn?t pick that spot there.”
