SALEM – A Peabody man who stabbed a Lynn man four times, once in the heart, on Joyce Street in Lynn last April, remains held without bail at the Middleton Jail after pleading innocent.Brian Farese, 26, of 14 May St., Peabody, appeared before Judge Kimberly Budd Thursday in Salem Superior Court for his arraignment, and pleaded not guilty to armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery as well as larceny over $250.Assistant District Attorney Maureen Wilson-Leal immediately filed a petition following the arraignment to have Farese declared a danger to the victim and to society.Budd scheduled a hearing in the case for next Wednesday. In the meantime, Farese will be held without bail.Defense lawyer Peter J. Morano is expected to argue there are conditions of release that would enable the protection of the victim and society. The charges arise from an incident shortly before 11 p.m. on April 12 when William Lupoli, 51, of 8 Joyce St., Lynn, tried to help Jaime Primus, 22, of Salem as Farese allegedly was attacking her.Lupoli was stabbed four times, including once in the heart, according to reports. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for medical treatment.Police, responding to the area on a report of a stabbing, arrested Farese outside Charlie Chan?s Restaurant on Union Street.Lupoli sustained a stab wound to his lower left side, two knife wounds on the left side of his chest, with one piercing his heart, and one wound below his left shoulder blade which pierced his left lung.Farese was indicted by an Essex County grand jury in June.
