The Lynn Classical and Swampscott golf teams opened their 2011 seasons under tough conditions at Tedesco CC in Marblehead on Tuesday.Steel-gray skies gave way to showers as the day moved on as the Big Blue claimed six of eight matches to take a 40 1/2-31 1/2 win over a much-improved Classical squad.”We had three first-time (varsity) players win, so it was nice to see those new faces come through,” Swampscott coach Linda Portnoy said.The two teams were locked in a close match through five players as the Big Blue had a scant five-point lead with three matches left. The decisive blow came at No. 6, where Peter Wright scored an 8-1 win in his first varsity outing.The day’s best match came at No. 1, where Trevor Massey shot 38 to outlast Classical’s Steve Nelson, 5-4.
