Girls Soccer: Dowd’s hat trick paces Peabody past Brookline

Hayley Dowd and the Peabody girls soccer team showed no letdown from Saturday’s big win over Acton-Boxboro as the junior striker notched a hat trick and an assist in the Tanners’ 4-0 win over Brookline on Monday.Victoria DiGiacomo also notched a goal and an assist on Monday. The duo had also accounted for both Peabody goals in a 2-1 win over the powerful Colonials.Spellman 4, St. Mary’s 2At Brockton, Chandler Capozzi and Suzanne Haefner each had a goal but the Spartans (2-1, 0-1 Catholic Central League/Large) trailed all night and couldn’t complete the comeback.The Spartans are back on the road Wednesday with a trip to Braintree against Archbishop Williams.Everett 3, English 2At Everett Memorial Stadium, the Bulldogs (1-2) had a 2-1 lead late in the first half but the hosts tied it at the break and then scored early in the second half to get the win.”This game could have gone either way,” English coach Ed McNeil said.Marnie Biondi and Veronica Uk notched the goals for English.The Bulldogs were coming off a 6-1 win over Lynn Tech in the consolation game of the Lynn City Soccer Tournament on Saturday. Biondi and Abbie Martocchio each had two goals in that game with Briana Moreno and Hayley Mah adding one each. Caroline Dally was in net for the win.Tech’s goal came from Hailey Martin with the assist going to Roxanne Diaz.Fenwick 3, Austin Prep 0At Donaldson Field in Peabody, Annette Ruggiero had a pair of goals and Ali McDonald added a single tally as the Crusaders opened their season in style.Carolyn Claveau stopped all seven shots she faced to record the shutout.Salem 3, Revere 0At Bertram Field in Salem, Emma Titus posted the shutout while Holbrook Phelan, Kayla Howland and Julia Jackson each recorded goals in the Witches’ first win of the season.
