SALEM – A Lynn landscaper who admitted burglarizing four cars during a one-night crime spree in the winter of 2010 on Bellevue Road in Lynn may spend up to five years in state prison.Juan Lazu, 31, of 160 Neptune Blvd., #715, Lynn, pleaded guilty Monday in Salem Superior Court to four counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, two counts of buying and receiving stolen property more than $250, two counts of buying and receiving stolen property less than $250 and providing a false name to police.Lazu was sentenced to serve not less than three years and not more than five years in state prison for the breaking and entering a motor vehicle charges by Judge David A. Lowy.He also was sentenced to a year in the House of Corrections for providing a false name to police and another two and a half years in jail on each of the receiving stolen property under $250 charges. However, those charges will run simultaneously, instead of one after another, with the three to five years in state prison penalty.Lowy agreed to follow the recommendation offered by Assistant District Attorney Christina P. Ronan and defense lawyer Randi Potash.At around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 15, 2010, Lynn police responded to a call from a concerned citizen that a suspicious person wearing a black jacket was checking car doors parked on Bellevue Road.When Lynn Police responded to the scene they saw an individual fitting the description of the man described by the caller and began to approach him when the man, wearing a shoulder bag and carrying a cardboard bag, took off.A foot pursuit began until Lynn police apprehended the man, later identified as Lazu.Lazu first told police his name was Miguel Lopez, which police later learned was his brother’s name.Police found a cell phone, laptop and an alarm clock inside the bag, which were later identified as property belonging to owners of two of the cars burglarized.Two other cars were rummaged through, but nothing was stolen, according to Ronan.
