Classical golf depth the difference in win over Revere

The Lynn Classical golf team had seven winners out of the possible eight spots, as the Rams defeated Revere 45-27 at Gannon Golf Course Thursday night.Classical coach Jack Morrison was happy with his team’s performance.”It was good to see my team get a win today. My team still has a ways to go, but it was good to see them play pretty well,” Morrison said.No. 3 Connor McCall, No. 4 Brett Erelli and No. 8 freshmen Mark Brazell all won 7-2 to help set the tone for the Rams. No. 1 Steve Nelson, No. 2 Eric Brazell and No. 5 Russ Holmes all won 51/2-31/2. No. 6 Brendan O’Neil won 5-4. Classical is now 1-2.St. Mary’s 173, Spellman 158At D.W. Field Golf Course, St. Mary’s coach Jay Fiste was very satisfied with his team’s all around performance.”My team played very well today across the board. Consistency throughout the whole team was the difference in the match,” Fiste said.Leading the way for St. Mary’s (3-0) was Shawn MacBurine (29 points). Other St. Mary’s players who performed well were: Justin Lappin (27 points), Chris Price (25), Cam O’Neill (24), Ryan Madden (23), Sean Maher (23) and Angelo Petrucelli (22).Danvers 45, Salem 27At Ferncroft CC, Salem had a strong team performance despite the result. No. 3 Cameron Darmody tied 41/2-41/2. No. 7 Joey Malionek tied 41/2-41/2. Salem is now 3-2.St. John’s 225, Xaverian 249At Brook Meadow GC in Canton, Nick Pandelena and Tim Cunningham each shot 1-under par as the Eagles (4-0, 3-0 Catholic Conference) cruised to the win despite Nick McLaughlin carding a 41.”With Nick not having a good day, five guys came through with terrific scores. That’s what we need if we’re going to be as good a team as we think we’re going to be.”Matt Bullock shot 37 whole, Kevin Kerhulas had a 38 and Josh Wingardner shot 39.Beverly 371/2, M’head 341/2At Beverly Golf & Tennis, it was close but no cigar for the Magicians (1-2).
