SAUGUS – The Saugus Board of Selectmen voted 4-0 to allow a 200 square foot Dunkin? Donuts with a drive through at the Sunoco Gas Station at 700 Broadway.The new Dunkin? Donuts location will be located in the convenient store and will feature a 10-foot wide drive through lane along with new curb cutouts with wheelchair accessible ramps.Richard Salvo of Engineering Alliance, Inc. said there will also be exterior and landscaping work done.?Dunkin? Donuts corporation has a certain standard that they insist all their franchisees maintain,” said Salvo. “So they insist the building be brought up to their standards in terms of aesthetics and landscaping.”William Panzini is a general manager at several other Dunkin? Donuts locations and said he anticipates interior work on the location could be completed within four to five weeks.The board attached a condition to the approval that stipulates a Saugus Police detail may be needed in the future at the expense of the owner if traffic becomes a problem.?There were a couple of concerns raised by neighbors last time regarding traffic,” said Selectman Stephen Horlick. “It might be necessary to do something with a police detail.”Aggregate Industries also went before the board, and was granted a six-month extension of its permit that allows the removal of earth and rock at the quarry located off of Route 1 south.Blasting at the quarry has been an issue in the past, but attorney Richard Magnan, representing Aggregate, said there has been no recent blasting in the area.?The fact of the matter is there has been no blasting in the past six months,” said Magnan. “In fact, the intention is to blast once before the end of the year with all the proper notice and check list items fulfilled.”The board also voted 3-0 to transfer an alcohol and entertainment license from Applebee?s Restaurants North, LLC, to Apple New England, LLC, a franchisee that has agreed to purchase 66 Applebee?s Restaurants across New England for $55 million. This purchase includes the location at 214 Broadway.In other business, the board voted 4-0 to grant a class II auto dealer?s license to Kenneth Michaud and Shohel Hossain to open a 15-car dealership located at 160 Broadway, and voted 4-0 to allow four tables and 12 chairs at the 7-Eleven at 304 Lincoln Ave. The board also voted 4-0 to extend the opening time of L.A.
