MARBLEHEAD – The Health Director Search Committee has a firm schedule that will place finalists before the Board of Health one week after Halloween.Committee members met Tuesday and voted to post the vacancy with an application deadline of Wednesday, Oct. 19. They plan to meet Thursday evening, Oct. 20 to review applications in executive session and schedule first-round interviews for Thursday, Oct. 27, Tuesday, Nov. 1 and Thursday, Nov. 3.Committee Chairman Carl Goodman suggested that committee members read over the applications and resumes as they come in and “create your own scale” for ranking the applicants.Committee member Jane Bright asked if the committee would seek input from retiring Director of Public Health Wayne Attridge.?I have no problem asking his opinion,” Goodman said.He added that the committee may want to invite Attridge to its Oct. 20 executive session for that purpose. The posting asks for applicants with an associate?s degree in the health field and eight-12 years experience. The Board of Health acts as the director?s supervisor. The health director supervises a number of employees, including a public health nurse, a health inspector and two part-time clerks at the health office. The position is posted with a salary of Step 1 on the administrator scale, or $64,300 a year, but Step 1 requires a performance review after six months and the salary could be negotiated upward.
