SALEM – A Lynn man who police say they caught with 11 bags of cocaine on his person four months ago remains free on $3,000 cash bail, after saying he is innocent.In Salem Superior Court Friday, Justice Gonzalez, 20, of 3 Henry Ave., appeared for his arraignment, pleading innocent to a charge of trafficking over 14 grams of cocaine.A conviction of the crime will net him a minimum mandatory punishment of at least three years behind bars and up to 10 years in state prison.Judge John T. Lu agreed to set the same bail amount as jointly proposed by Assistant District Attorney Michael Sheehan and defense lawyer Christopher Norris and continued the case to Nov. 2 for a pretrial conference.In the meantime, Gonzalez will remain free on bail pending the outcome of his case.The charge arises out of an incident in Lynn on the afternoon of May 24 when Lynn police officer Paul Cotter pulled over a black Lexus in the area of 5 Broad St. for a motor vehicle infraction.Cotter searched Gonzalez, who was a passenger in the vehicle, and said he discovered 11 bags of cocaine, containing approximately 16 grams, on his person.
