SALEM – A 17-year-old Lynn teenager charged with firing a gun at two people during an alleged gang fight on Brightwood Terrace was one of three local people indicted Friday afternoon by an Essex County grand jury.Jimmy T. Keo, of 14 Clifton Ave., #1, Lynn, is charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon as well as possession of a loaded firearm, possession of ammunition, carrying a firearm without a license and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.The charges arise out of an incident on Aug. 21 when police received a call around midnight regarding a fight on Brightwood Terrace.While responding to the scene, police heard four gunshots and saw two people running from the scene. The two victims, ages 19 and 22, were not injured, police said.As police investigators began interviewing witnesses, they learned that a witness standing nearby said he had seen Keo firing the gunshots.When police interviewed Keo, he voluntarily told them he had tossed the gun, a reportedly 9mm, near a multi-family home nearby. Keo led police to the 9mm Smith & Wesson firearm which was found in a front yard on Washington Street.Authorities said they found stray bullet holes in several motor vehicles on the street.Keo remains held without bail at the Middleton Jail as a danger to the community following a bail hearing in Superior Court earlier this month.Assistant District Attorney John B. Brennan is assigned to prosecute the case.Also indicted were:James Steven Beal, 46, of 27 Jasper St., Saugus, charged with aggravated rape of a child stemming from an incident involving sexual misconduct with an underage teenage girl from Oct. 1, 2009 to Oct. 1, 2010. Prosecutors claim Beal had an affair with the girl at the Lynn Woods in Lynn. The misconduct reportedly had been going on for a couple of years. Police were contacted in August from Beal’s wife who told them that she believed her husband was carrying on a relationship with a girl. Following an investigation, Beal was arrested. The victim, now age 16, reportedly was the former girlfriend of one of Beal’s two sons. Beal currently is held in custody without bail for 90 days after violating a court order in Lynn District Court for contacting or speaking to the victim. Assistant District Attorney Jessica Strasnick is prosecuting the case.Jorge Maldonado-Grijalva, 29, last known address of 7 Shepherd St., Lynn, is charged with three counts of aggravated rape concerning sexual misconduct with a 13-year-old girl beginning in 2009. The charges arise out of dates between Nov. 10, 2009 and May 1, 2010 when Maldonado-Grijalva began allegedly raping the girl, who was the daughter of his girlfriend at the time. The victim was age 13 when the sexual assaults first began. Maldonado-Grijalva was recently arrested in New Jersey on the warrants and sent back to Massachusetts to face the charges. Assistant District Attorney John B. Brennan is the prosecutor assigned the case.Indictments are a legal process that allows a case to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court allowing for a more severe punishment. It is not an indication of guilt.
