School roundup: Cogliano puts four on the board for Saugus field hockey

Saugus High freshman Sophia Cogliano had the magic touch for the Sachems, scoring four goals to lead the Sachems to a 5-1 win over Malden on Tuesday at Malden.Saugus, 2-3-3, also had a goal from Julianna Vara and a strong game in net by Lindsey Canniff, who made five saves.Danvers 6, Gloucester 2At Gloucester, Caitlin McBride scored two quick goals for Danvers to help give the Falcons a 3-1 lead at the half. Danvers was on cruise control from that point on. Sarah Potter, Nicole Pszenny and Katherine Leonard all scored one goal each for Danvers. Danvers (8-1) plays Malden Thursday.BOYS SOCCERSwampscott 2, Revere 2At Revere, Swampscott was up 2-1 at the half on two goals from Kendrick Simpson. Revere tied the game 2-2 four minutes into the second half on a goal from Mohamed Kenway. Swampscott (3-3-2) goalie Patrick Kennedy had a strong game in net (8 saves). The Patriots’ Kenway accounted for all of the Revere offense (2 goals). Ben Graciani and Abel Alcantar both had strong performances at the wing position. Revere is now 3-3-2.GIRLS SOCCERSaugus 5, Revere 0At Saugus, the Sachems got off to a quick 2-0 lead at the half and never looked back. The Saugus duo of Brianna Evans and Paige Hibbard combined for four goals (2 goals each). Olivia Turgeon chipped in with one goal as well. Melissa Toomey had a strong game in net. Makayla Perilla, Gabby Cogliano, and Andrea Davis had solid performances for Saugus at midfield and defense. Saugus remains unbeaten (7-0-1) and plays Danvers Thursday.Lynnfield 7, Manchester 0At Manchester, Lynnfield scored three goals in the first 16 minutes of the game and was able to race out to a 4-0 halftime lead. The Pioneer duo of Scout Benson and Alex Prach led the way for the Lynnfield attack (2 goals each). Kimmy Duhaime, Lauren McCarthy and Aly Johnson all scored one goal each. Lynnfield (2-3-4) plays Newburyport Wednesday.
