Boys Soccer: Peabody gets past English on road

Colin Mahoney and Mike Chiappini each had a goal as the Peabody boys soccer team picked up a 2-1 win over Lynn English at Manning Field on Monday morning.”It was a close game,” English coach Kerry King said. “We played well, real well. We just couldn’t get the equalizer in.”The Tanners led most of the way but saw their lead cut to 2-1 in the second half by English’s Richard Charles. But the Bulldogs (3-6-1) couldn’t get back even.Beverly 4, Saugus 0At Saugus, Connor Leahy had a hat trick and Jack Atherton added his first career goal as the Panthers (2-5-3) made it two wins in a row.Andrew Pittman and Justin Carnavale split the shutout in goal.Salem 3, Swampscott 1At Swampscott, Brion Likaj, Robert Abreu and Esosa Okumnwendia each had a second-half goal as the Witches (7-2-1) got a big road victory. Daniel Collins played the second 40 minutes and got the win in goal.St. John’s 3, Danvers 1At Danvers, Al Talcofsky and Max Cotton netted second-half tallies as the Eagles (7-1-2) bested the red-hot Falcons. Grant Beane had a first-half goal for the Prep.Revere 2, Marblehead 2At Revere, the Patriots (3-3-4) suffered their third straight draw as Mohammed Kenawy scored a pair of first-half goals.Mal. Cath. 2, Fenwick 1At Brother Gilbert Stadium in Malden, Kevin Emmons scored with 10 minutes remaining but the Crusaders (7-3-2) couldn’t overcome a sluggish start.
