LYNN – A Lynn man is being held without bail Tuesday after he was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing early Sunday morning.Gabriel Cepeda, 28, of 187 Washington St., #16, was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and violating a city knife ordinance. He was arraigned Tuesday in Lynn District Court.According to police reports, officers responded to 196 Washington St. for a reported stabbing at 2:05 a.m. Sunday and found a 10-inch butcher knife outside an apartment building at 187 Washington St.Police discovered blood in the hallway and stairs of 196 Washington St., said reports.Court documents state that police interviewed the victim at Massachusetts General Hospital, who said he was having a party at his apartment and went out to smoke a cigarette when he was stabbed.?While outside alone he was approached by the suspect and stabbed in the right arm and in the right side of the stomach,” said the incident report. “He stated he did not know the name of the man who stabbed him but stated he knew he lived across the street.”The suspect also stated the suspect wanted to fight him several weeks ago but did not know why, according to the report.Police interviewed the victim?s wife, who said he and the suspect had been in a part altercation where the suspect pulled a knife and tried to stab him. She stated the suspect still lives at 187 Washington St., said the report.The report states that after the victim was released from the hospital, police brought photos to his home for him to identify the suspect. According to the arrest report, the victim identified Cepeda on the third photo.?He immediately stopped at photo #3, which was of Gabriel Cepeda,” said the report. “Officer Lopez asked (the victim) to continue to look at the remaining photos. (The victim) stated he did not have to as he knows the guy but just doesn?t know his name. (The victim) told Officer Lopez he is 100 percent positive that the person he picked out was the person who stabbed him.”According to the report, police went across the street to 187 Washington St., where the owner of the building gave police the key to Cepeda?s apartment.
