Boys Soccer: Big Blue get past English

The Swampscott boys soccer team got a goal from James Beane as time expired to end the first half at Phillips Park against Lynn English on Wednesday to tie the game at 1-1. In the second half, Erick Verdu scored with a little over seven minutes left on the clock in regulation to earn Swampscott a 2-1 win over the Bulldogs.Jefferson Fobellah had given English (3-7-1) its 1-0 lead early in the first half before Swampscott began its comeback.Classical 8, Winthrop 0At Manning Field, Yabesi Musema turned in a hat trick and Salvador Castro added two goals and an assist as the Rams (8-3-1, 6-0 NEC South) cruised to victory. Abdoulaye Bah had three assists.Erickson Rodriguez, Saif Yousif and Jesus Viveros also had goals.Danvers 6, Marblehead 0At Marblehead, Eric Martin had two goals and two assists while defender Ethan Collins also scored twice as the Falcons (9-3, 6-0 NEC North) were never in trouble against the Magicians.Jon Amico and Drew Piazza added the other Danvers goals.Peabody 7, Beverly 1At Peabody, this one was a game for 40 minutes as the Tanners (6-3, 4-1 NEC North) took a 2-0 lead into the half. Peabody then blew the game wide open with a five-goal barrage in the first 15 minutes of the second half.Colin Mahoney and Mike Chiappini each had hat tricks to pace the Peabody assault. Vlasi Duni added the other Tanner tally.Salem 4, Gloucester 2At Newell Stadium in Gloucester, Gabriel Rodrigues had a hat trick and Robert Abreu added the other goal as the Witches (8-2-1) picked up the win. Daniel Collins made five saves in goal.
