SAUGUS – Saugus Police said eight teenagers were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital Friday night after the taxi they were riding in struck another vehicle on Walnut Street near Blueridge Avenue.Lt. David Putnam said police cited Christopher Brady, a cab driver with Tom?s Taxi in Lynn, with operating a motor vehicle to endanger and seat belt violation for not having enough seat belts for the passengers.?He had eight minor passengers in the vehicle,” said Putnam. “One in the front seat and seven in the backseat.”Putnam said the youths were all transported to Mass General for observation, but said “they did not appear to be seriously injured.”Assistant Police Chief Leonard Campanello said the injuries were very minor and the teenagers were taken to the hospital as a precaution.According to Brady, the taxi was on its way from Lynn to Roller World on Route 1 in Saugus when it hit another vehicle from behind.?The other motor vehicle was stopped in traffic when the taxi cab collided with it,” said Putnam. “It was very wet conditions at the time.”A dispatcher for Tom?s Taxi declined to comment Friday night.Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected].
