Football players from Revere and English had better be ready to perform tonight.Not only are we getting into the meat of the season, but these Bulldogs and Pioneers are going to be TV stars.FOX 25 will feature the game on its High School Friday show. The station, with sports anchor Kristine Leahy and meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz will broadcast live from Manning Field prior to tonight’s game (which begins at 7), on the 6 p.m. news show.Also included will be team previews and player/coach interviews from the field, and highlights of the contest on the 10 and 11 p.m. news.Coverage wraps up Monday night at 10 p.m. as FOX 25 unveils the “Play of the Week” from the Patriots-Bulldogs matchup.Revere comes into the game on the heels of an improbable 20-17 win over Peabody last week in which the Patriots came from a 17-0 hole to win, thanks to two onside kicks. Revere, 5-1, is off to its best start since the 1989 season in which the Patriots started out at 5-0 under coach Mike Cella.English, 4-2, has rebounded from its recent two-game losing streak, especially after Saturday night’s convincing win over Salem in which P.J. Dorsey – an Item/Agganis Foundation Player of the Week – scored three touchdowns.Other games involving Lynn teams this weekend:Classical at N. AndoverAt N. Andover (6), the Rams, by an hour, become the first Northeastern Conference team to dip into Northeastern Conference/Cape Ann League Tier 1 waters when they visit the Scarlet Knights.Classical, 3-2, got a huge game (four touchdowns and 205 yards) from quarterback John Finnigan, the other Player of the Week, in last Friday’s win over Gloucester.The Knights have reeled off five wins in a row since a Week 1 loss to Andover. This is the first NEC/CAL Tier 1 league game for both teams.SATURDAYTech at NortheastAt Northeast (10:30), the Tigers and Golden Knights resume a longstanding Commonwealth Conference rivalry – this year with a new twist. It’s a league game.The Knights ruled the CCL/Small in the last few years and won two straight Division 4A Super Bowls. Now, they’ve moved up to the large, which means Saturday’s is a league game.Both teams have 5-1 records, Tech’s loss coming in a league game last week to Greater Lawrence, and Northeast’s coming against Dover-Sherborn.At the conclusion of Saturday’s game, MVP awards will be given in memory of the late Rick Drislane, a Tech standout; and Ed Repucci of Northeast, also a star player. Both died in auto accidents.St. Mary’s at SpellmanAt Spellman (6), the Spartans, 5-1, try to recover from last week’s overtime loss to Arlington Catholic while the Cardinals try to remain unbeaten.St. Mary’s has had a tough time of it with Spellman in the past few years, and last year’s loss at Manning Field kept it out of the postseason.This is Spellman’s first Catholic Central League/Large game.
