On the day that she was named Most Valuable Player of the NEC North, Hayley Dowd’s assault on the record book at Peabody High for girls soccer reached its completion. The Boston College commit notched a hat trick that pushed her to 147 career points, one ahead of Emily Manoogian, in the Tanners’ 4-0 win over Salem.”When you see a kid work as hard as Hayley does, you want them rewarded for their efforts,” Peabody coach Dennis Desroches said. “What you see from her in the game is what we see in practice every day. This is very well deserved.”The Tanners (14-0-2, 11-0-1 NEC North) were in complete control the whole way, taking an early lead and pulling away from there.Dowd took full sight on the record in her last four games, where she’s recorded three hat tricks and 11 total goals.”Hayley would be the first one to give her teammates credit for this,” Desroches said. “She shares this accomplishment with her teammates. That’s the type of kid she is.”Peabody closes its regular season on Saturday at home against Bishop Fenwick in the annual battle of the Tanner City.
