Roundup: Beverly field hockey wins NEC title

Behind three goals from Katie Pietrini, the Beverly field hockey team defeated host Danvers 3-2 on Wednesday. The win clinched the Northeastern Conference title for the Panthers (16-0-1) for the fourth straight season.”This comes down to the players,” said Beverly coach Tricia Murphy. “We’ve had hard-working and important captains and our seniors this year have seen our commitment to winning.”For Danvers (13-3-1), Catherine Lamoly scored on a feed from Katherine Leonard.Marblehead 1, Revere 0At Marblehead, Brittany Keroack scored the lone goal of the game for the Magicians (10-4-3).Swampscott 6, Salem 3At Swampscott, Julieann Marquis had two goals while Tori Thistle and Cody Kline had a goal and two assists each as the Big Blue (12-3-2) rolled to the win. Alexa Steriti and Lisa Vu also had goals.VOLLEYBALLLynnfield 3, Pope John 0At Lynnfield, the Pioneers swept to 25-7, 25-10 and 25-12 wins. Amanda McQueen had nine aces, 10 assists and 27 service points.Revere 3, English 0At English, the Patriots (9-8) picked up 25-14, 25-23 and 25-22 wins to claim the straight set victory. Valentina Lopez led Revere while English had solid games from Sarah Cowdell and Megan Carter.Salem 3, Classical 0At Salem, the Rams (4-8) lost in straight sets as Cassie D’Agostino and Bobbie Dee Regan had solid performances.
