Lynn police investigate Essex Street shooting

LYNN – Lynn Police responded to a shooting at Mt. Pleasant and Essex streets at around 2 p.m. on Sunday.Sgt. Robert Godbout said “several shots” were fired in the area, but said there were no injuries reported and the suspects fled the area.?Everybody had fled prior to our arrival,” said Godbout.Godbout said police had no descriptions of any suspects involved or any possible victim.Mt. Pleasant Street was quiet and there was no visible police activity at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.Jimmy Torres lives on the corner of Mt. Pleasant and Essex and said he heard the shots but didn?t see what happened.?When I came outside it already happened,” said Torres, 43. “It was maybe four or five shots.”Torres said police collected several shell casings in the area.Torres, who has been living on Essex Street for 11 years, said shootings are common in the neighborhood.?This house here got shot 11 times,” said Torres, pointing to a home across from the corner grocery. “That was maybe four months ago. And that one there got shot three times. It?s really bad. When everything gets dark, I don?t come outside. My kids, we?re all inside.
