MARBLEHEAD – The Marblehead Forever Committee has a chairman, a secretary and a source of funds. Now committee members are asking townspeople to suggest historic and educational events that they could sponsor. The new chairman is Kyle Wylie and the new secretary is Linda Doliber. Both volunteered at a meeting last week and were confirmed unanimously by their colleagues.Committee members are still hoping that townspeople will submit ideas for appropriate committee activities.Town Meeting established the committee to use remaining private donations from the town?s 350th Anniversary Celebration in 1999 for “celebration and education,” and currently has $37,776.31 in its account. The committee is also pondering nominees for the 2012 Marblehead Forever Award for a person who “embodies the spirit of Marblehead.”Past recipients include Bud Orne, Virginia Gamage, Marion Gosling, Louise Cutler and Wayne Butler.Committee members have been asked to forward nominee names to Wylie and Doliber and they are hoping to find legal justification to discuss the nominees in executive session, since the award is a surprise. They did not appear to be worried about coming up with names, however. “This town is full of so many volunteers,” Doliber said.
