SAUGUS – Selectman Debra Panetta said the Board of Selectmen is looking for more information from the owner of a possible new restaurant at the site of Jalapeno?s, after the Board voted 5-0 Tuesday to continue a liquor license transfer hearing.Panetta said the board is looking for specific documents – including a business plan, an updated menu and financial obligations – from Suleyman Celimli, president of Evos Properties LLC, which is looking to open Sully C?s Bar and Grill at 168 Broadway.Celimli used to own Godfrey?s, which was a restaurant there before Jalapeno?s took over.?We didn?t have a business plan to know exactly what he was doing for the restaurant,” said Panetta. “There were follow up items that we asked for. It was the first hearing and the first time they came before the board so we?re just gathering information.”Panetta said she was concerned about the application, stating there would be a three-piece band at the new restaurant.?I don?t have a problem with a jazz band,” said Panetta. “Is it going to start off as a three-piece and then all of a sudden it?s a six-piece rock band?”The hearing was continued to Nov. 29 and Panetta said she?s hoping Celimli will have more details.?The board had a lot of questions for him,” said Panetta. “You want whatever goes in there to be sustainable. You don?t want a revolving door when it comes to restaurants.”Matt Tempesta can be reached at [email protected]. You can follow him on Twitter @MattTempesta.
