REVERE – Revere received a MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant of $995,985 to aid a project at Revere Beach and Wonderland Station. The money will go to create a pedestrian bridge connecting a planned mixed-use redevelopment project at Wonderland Station and Revere Beach.City officials are excited about the money.?The MassWorks Infrastructure Program has done an exceptional job in assisting with development projects in cities like Revere, across the entire Commonwealth,” state Rep. Kathi-Anne Reinstein said in a released statement. The project includes building a public plaza coming out of the Wonderland station parking lot on Ocean Avenue (Route 1A) that then turns into a pedestrian bridge that lets pedestrians walk onto Revere Beach.?The whole Wonderland project has been a wonderful collaboration between the city, the state and federal government,” Reinstein told the Item Thursday. “It is really exciting.”Revere Councilor at Large Anthony T. Zambuto agreed.?It is great news,” he said. “We are thrilled about it. This grant will help bring the project back to its full glory.”Reinstein believes the planned pedestrian bridge will boost public safety in that area of Revere. “Developing this project will enhance safety while making the area more functional for everyone visiting our beautiful beach,” Reinstein said. Many believe this grant will help the Wonderland project continue to move forward.?This infrastructure grant is crucial to the ongoing revitalization of Revere Beach and Wonderland Station,” state Sen.
