BEVERLY – Before the doors to Beverly High School even opened Saturday morning, a line of people facing foreclosure stood outside in the cold, many of them carrying stacks of paper and tired faces. They were waiting to meet with representatives from top banks like Bank of America and Wells Fargo at a mortgage forum hosted by Congressman John F. Tierney in Beverly. Many of them, like Lynn resident Matt DeAmelio, said they weren’t able to take advantage of a 2009 federal program to refinance loans, despite being told they qualify. They expressed frustration with the endless reams of bureaucracy leading to nowhere to caseworkers and Tierney, who were also present.Despite not being open to the press, The Daily Item followed DeAmelio through the forum.
