SALEM – A Malden woman who admitted peddling drugs in Saugus in 2009 was sentenced to serve not less then three years and not more than five years in state prison.Heidi M. Pefine, 50, last known address of 250 Highland Ave., Malden, pleaded guilty Tuesday afternoon in Salem Superior Court to possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute OxyContin, possession of Lorazepam with the intent to distribute and possession of Levetiracetam.Judge Timothy Q. Feeley adopted the joint recommendation proposed by Assistant District Attorney Michael Sheehan and defense lawyer Richard C. Chambers, Jr.Pefine will serve her punishment at Framingham State Prison for Women. The judge credited Pefine with 146 days already served.Pefine was arrested in Saugus on the afternoon of Aug. 22, 2009 at the Saugus Commons after police observed her in a red truck involved in what they believed to be suspicious activity.Police said they confiscated almost three-quarters of an ounce of cocaine (20 grams) along with more than 100 tablets of OxyCodone and other non-prescribed pills from her person.
