SALEM – A jury indicted a Lynn resident and a Saugus man Wednesday afternoon on separate cases involving unarmed robbery and kidnapping crimes.Nurinalda Mendez, 21, who police list as homeless in Lynn, is charged with assault and battery on an elderly person, larceny of property over $250, kidnapping and breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony.The charges arise out of an incident on Oct. 19, when a person allegedly burglarized the home of an 83 year old on Pleasant Street. The victim told police that a person herded her into a closet, blocked the door and stole money, jewelry and medications before fleeing.The victim eventually freed herself and called police.Assistant District Attorney Jessica Strasnick is prosecuting the case.Jonathan Sevoich, 22, of 1 Dewey St. in Saugus, was charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery stemming from a holdup at a Cumberland Farms Store on Chestnut Street in Lynn where between $150 and $200 was reported stolen.Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Kirshenbaum is assigned to prosecute the case.The indictments allow for both cases to be transferred from District Court to Superior Court.
