SWAMPSCOTT – Swampscott police arrested a Boston man Monday morning after he apparently caused three separate traffic crashes, including one that injured a person, according to Swampscott and Lynn police reports.David Warren, 42, of 107 Park Drive in Boston, was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, Lt. Chris Kelly of the Lynn Police said.Lynn officers were first dispatched at 10:15 a.m. to 810 Lynnway in Lynn for a hit and run with property damage, Kelly said, where witnesses saw a red Ford pick-up truck jump the curb and hit a staircase before fleeing toward Swampscott. An officer observed two damaged pillars on either side of the staircase. Witnesses said the truck nearly struck several people as it careened off the road, according to the police report.Around that time, Kelly said, Warren was involved in another crash at 295 Lynn Shore Drive, where he reportedly caused damage to the front of an apartment in that building. Witnesses saw a red pick-up truck matching Warren?s fleeing the scene with heavy front end damage. At 10:37 a.m., Lynn, Swampscott and state police responded to a crash at 6 Humphrey St. in Swampscott. An unidentified injured person appeared to suffer non-life-threatening injuries at the crash on Humphrey Street, Swampscott Police Sgt. Tim Cassidy said, and was transported to North Shore Medical Center for treatment. When officers arrived, Warren had fled but a witness gave them a license plate belonging to a 1999 Ford pick-up truck registered to Warren?s father, Kelly said. Witnesses also said the truck took off at high rate of speed, causing the rear bed door to come off and its contents to fall out onto a display of Christmas trees.Swampscott police took Warren into custody and he was issued a court summons, Kelly said.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
