REVERE – Mayor-elect Dan Rizzo has high hopes for the future of Revere. However, he knows he is going to need the help of his peers to make his vision a reality.?My mission is to deliver the best service to our residents in the most efficient way possible and we all need to work together to make that happen,” Rizzo said to a crowded City Hall at Tuesday night?s transition meeting. The transition meeting was to start forming clear vision for Rizzo?s first term and to get advice from business leaders, elected officials and community leaders.?I put this together to get a move on what I have to do. When I get into office I don?t want to be 90 days behind,” Rizzo said. “This is a very important process to move from the Ambrosino administration to the Rizzo administration.”Part of that smooth transition process was the creation of nine different sub-committees to help Rizzo gather information about specific topics of importance to Revere. The committees include four to six members along with a chairperson. The sub-committees are economic development, police public safety, fire public safety, constituent services, health care and elder services, delivery of city services and community revitalization, new citizenship, information technological and telecommunication and education.Rizzo chose each member based on his confidence on what they could bring to the city. “Many of these people I know either in a personal or professional matter,” Rizzo said. “Collectively, they have an expertise that will be beneficial to this transition process.”The sub-committees play an important role in Rizzo?s preparation for taking over as mayor.?We want the sub-committees to identify what is going on in their assigned subject, document their findings and tell us what their vision is and their long-term goals are,” Economic Development sub-committee chairman John Festa said. Each sub-committee is to write an action plan on what they think needs to happen in Revere within the first 100 days of Rizzo?s administration.Rizzo encouraged his transition team to think outside the box when coming up with ideas and solutions for the city. “Be creative. Formulate your vision. Come up with your own ideas and thoughts,” Rizzo said.Others stressed how valuable their input will be for the Rizzo administration. “We are going to take these recommendations seriously,” Chairman of Constituent Services sub-committee David Krassnoff said. “They will not fall on deaf ears.”?We are going to be organized, thorough and efficient,” Festa added.Their action plan will be available to the public via danrizzo.org and revere.org. “This is so right from that start there is full transparency within the Rizzo administration,” Festa said. “This transparency is vital.”There will also be a public meeting on Dec. 20 where citizens can voice their concerns to Rizzo and the sub-committee chairs.?This is so Revere citizens can stay involved in the process,” Festa said. Many of Revere?s most influential figures were in attendance Tuesday night including Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, state Rep. Kathi-Anne Reinstein, newly-elected City Councilors Brian Arrigio and Jessica Giannino, Superintendent Paul Dakin and Police Chief Terence Reardon among others.?I?m excited for the great job Dan is going to do,” DeLeo said. “Revere is going to prosper and that guy is going to lead us to the future.”Rizzo was inspired to see everyone working together. “I can tell there is a certain level of enthusiasm in the room and that means great things for the city,” Rizzo said.Sara Brown can be reached at [email protected].
