In a true team effort, the St. Mary’s boys basketball team earned a comeback victory on the road over Masconomet, 60-40, on Wednesday night. Nick Gagliolo led all scorers with 22 points, while Devin Thompson added 17.Defensively, the Spartans (1-1) were able to stifle Masco’s leading scorer, Adam Bramanti. While Gagliolo and Devin Thompson did the scoring, Randolf Thurman acted as the all-around facilitator, scoring nine points, handing out five assists and pulling down five rebounds.Saugus 66, Northeast 46At Saugus, Curtis Casella caught fire in the third quarter for Saugus, scoring 15 of his team-high 22 points, to help the Sachems sustain their comeback. Saugus trailed 16-5 after the first quarter and only led by a point at the half. Shane Ripley had nine points and Ryan Hennehan chipped in with eight, as did Selim Omerovic. Omerovic also had 14 rebounds. Saugus is 2-0.Spellman 64, Fenwick 35At Brockton, the Crusaders went up against the iron of the league. Dom Luoni scored 10 points and Ben Maxner, seven points. Maxner also had seven rebounds.
