Former Lynn woman indicted for larceny

SALEM – A former Lynn woman who allegedly embezzled more than $247,000 from a local real estate firm where she worked as a payroll clerk was one of four people indicted Wednesday afternoon by an Essex County grand jury.Cheryl Harvey, 51, currently living in Billerica, is charged with four counts of larceny of property more than $250 and six counts of forgery involving allegations she embezzled more than $247,000 from Century 21 Hughes Realty in Lynn.The allegations accuse her of stealing the more than $247,000 from her employer between July 2008 and this May.Harvey, who worked for the company owned by David Hughes had been employed there for three years as a payroll clerk who allegedly cashed the checks and reportedly used the funds for her own personal use.Harvey worked in the office that manages foreclosure properties, according to reports.The discrepancies came to light this year when the real estate company was undergoing an IRS audit.Assistant District Attorney Melissa Woodard is prosecuting the case for the commonwealth.Also indicted were:Jerome Smith, 37, of 75 Broad St., Lynn, is charged with three counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over age 14, two counts of assault and battery as well as a single count of kidnapping. The charges arise out of an incident in Lynn on Sept. 29 when he allegedly grabbed a 22-year-old woman in front of St. Joseph?s Rectory on Green Street, dragged her down a driveway and raped her. Assistant District Attorney Melissa Woodard is assigned to prosecute the case.Joshua Vasquez, 24, of 7 Liberty Square, Lynn, charged with assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 concerns an incident in Lynn on March 9 when he allegedly beat a child, causing serious injury.Luis Federico Angelini, of Lynn, no age available at this time, is charged with two counts of dissemination of pornography to a child and five counts of possession of child pornography. The charges arise out of his arrest on Oct. 26 when authorities seized the material. He also allegedly disseminated pornography to a child under the age of 18 on April 20. Assistant District Attorney Christina P. Ronan is prosecuting the case.
