It took a while for the St. Mary’s boys hockey team to solve Bridgewater-Raynham’s standout junior goaltender Peter Drowne. Once they did, the Spartans struck in the frenetic manner to which their fans are accustomed, packing all of their goals into the final 16:41 of Saturday night’s 5-1 non-league win at Connery Rink.”For two periods, they gave us all we could handle. We didn’t bring our A game but I like the way we stayed with it and responded in the third period. I thought (sophomore) goalie Bailey MacBurnie played an exceptionally good game,” said St. Mary’s coach Mark Lee.The Trojans, out of the Old Colony League, broke a scoreless tie at 7:22 of the second period when John Rizzo converted a Nick Holmes set-up. St. Mary’s pulled even with 1:41 left in the period on a goal by Frank Moreschi.Jared Fitzpatrick popped home the game-winner at 1:54 of the third period, and then Nikko Markham created space at the 9:02 mark. Unassisted strikes by Bobby Mullins (two assists) at 13:18 and Brendan Mageary at 14:49 iced it. Hingham held a 1-0 lead after one period, but Sam Kurker pulled the Prep even in the second period, then delivered the game-winner 55 seconds into the third. Goalie Dave Letarte (27 saves) made it stand up.”Hingham is a strong team and the Pilgrim is a tough place to play. Mazzarelli also drew the primary assist on R.J. Tiorano’s goal with 4:48 left in the first period, slicing an early Big Blue lead in half. Matt Videtta and Corey Carmody scored goals 1:05 apart to give Swampscott a 2-0 lead midway through the first period. Swampscott goalie Pat Sheehan finished with 14 saves.Austin Prep 6, Bp.
