PEABODY – Two men were shot and killed following a house party in Peabody early Sunday morning, District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said. The murders do not appear to be random and several weapons were recovered at the scene, according to Blodgett.Peabody Police first became aware of the incident when officers from the Salem Police Department called to alert them that a man, who later died, was being treated at Salem Hospital for a shooting that took place in Peabody, Blodgett said Sunday afternoon in a press conference held in front of the Peabody Police Station.Officers questioned the people who brought in the man, identified as 23-year-old Jonathan Ramos of 47 Washington St., and were told the incident took place at 8 Aborn St., the home of 24-year-old Richard Duran, who was found dead there by police at about 7:10 a.m. Sunday.Blodgett said both men were at a “gathering” at the residence until the early hours, and that both men are known by Peabody Police and have been arrested before. He did not elaborate on their past crimes. The small wooden-framed two-story home at 8 Aborn St. was cordoned off with police tape Sunday afternoon. Law enforcement officials could be seen coming and going from the residence.Neighbors watching the commotion surrounding the brown house at the corner of Aborn and Holten streets from afar Sunday afternoon described the neighborhood as “typically peaceful.”?As far as I know it?s always been quiet,” said Richard Hudson, who lives around the corner from the murder scene. “This is very unusual, but then there has been a lot more violence creeping this way up the North Shore.”Autopsies will be conducted at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston this morning, Blodgett said. The case is being investigated by Peabody and State police.Taylor Provost can be reached at [email protected].
