MARBLEHEAD – Town Moderator Gary Spiess and the School Committee have renamed Marcia Sweeney to represent the town on the North Shore Regional Vocational School Committee.Sweeney, a former 18-year member of the School Committee, currently serves as vice chairman of the North Shore committee.Spiess told the School Committee in a note that the town is entitled to one member on the committee which oversees the North Shore Regional Vocational School. That member is appointed by the town moderator and reatified by the School Committee.The North Shore school has an estimated 450 students and serves 16 communities, including Gloucester, Essex, Manchester, Rockport, Danvers, Marblehead, Wenham, Beverly, Boxford, Hamilton, Lynnfield, Middleton, Nahant, Salem, Swampscott and Topsfield.It is currently in a state of transition, with a new $133 million building scheduled to open in 2013. More than $100 million of the cost is being covered by state aid and the rest will be covered by member communities. Simultaneously the school is merging with Essex Agricultural High School.
