SALEM – A Peabody construction worker was sent to prison for a year after admitting he was in violation of the terms of his probation on an earlier armed robbery charge by being arrested on a new charge.Michael L. Randazzo, 35, last known address of 20 Dalton Court, Peabody, pleaded guilty in November of 2010 to participating in the robbery of a 67-year-old man and was given three years of probationOn Tuesday in Salem Superior Court, Randazzo admitted he violated his probationary terms because of a new arrest involving a burglary incident out of Lynn and was sentenced to serve a year in state prison by Judge Timothy Q. Feeley.On Nov. 16, 2010 Randazzo pleaded guilty to a charge of armed robbery in connection with an incident on the afternoon of Feb. 8, 2008 when Randazzo, who was a neighbor of the victim, and two other unidentified accomplices walked into the then 67-year-old man’s home at 20 Bresnahan Court. One of robbers grabbed a knife, slashing the victim’s shorts while snatching $600 in cash and running from the home.The victim later identified Randazzo as one of the holdup men.Assistant District Attorney Michael Patten said at the hearing that he would have proceeded at trial on a joint venture theory while pointing out that the DNA profile on the knife was not Randazzo’s profile.At that time, the victim was in very poor health and the commonwealth was taking that into consideration in resolving the case.
