The Swampscott boys hockey team fell just short to Newton South at the East Boston tournament championship, as Newton defeated Swampscott 2-1 Tuesday night.Swampscott coach Gino Faia was pleased with his team’s performance.”My team played very hard today but unfortunately we ran into a hot goalie. My team had many chances but just could not put the puck in the net,” Faia said.Swampscott was up 1-0 at the end of the first period on a goal from Robert Serino. Newton scored one goal in both the second and third periods, and scored the game-winning goal with a minute and a half left. Swampscott outshot Newton 39-17.
